Gaviscon Advance Peppermint Flavour Oral Suspension 300ml is a specialized treatment designed to provide long-lasting relief from symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux, including acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion. Its extra-strength formulation contains Sodium Alginate and Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate, which work together to form a protective barrier (or "raft") that sits atop the stomach contents, preventing acid from refluxing into the oesophagus. This mechanism offers up to four hours of relief and is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing discomfort after meals, during pregnancy, or due to conditions like hiatus hernia or oesophagitis. The peppermint-flavoured suspension is sugar-free, gluten-free, and suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is recommended for adults and children over 12 years, with a dosage of 5–10 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times daily. - Do not use if you are allergic to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, or parabens (methylparaben or propylparaben).
- Not suitable for individuals on a low-sodium or salt-restricted diet without medical advice.
- Long-term or excessive use may lead to hypercalcaemia (high calcium levels in the blood).
- If symptoms persist longer than 7 days, consult your doctor.
- Use only under medical advice in children under 12 years.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Generally safe, but consult your healthcare provider before use.
- Space at least 2 hours apart from other oral medications to avoid reduced effectiveness.
- Store below 30°C, in a cool, dry place, and keep out of reach of children.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Shake well before use to ensure proper mixing of ingredients.
