Ferrous Sulfate Tablets 200mg

1. Adults: Typically, 200 mg (≈60 mg elemental iron) once to three times daily depending on severity.
   
2. Pediatric (≥12 years): Often same dose, per physician instruction.
   
3. Take on an empty stomach—ideally 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Can be taken with food if gastric irritation occurs.
   
4. Avoid tea, coffee, dairy, calcium, magnesium, antacids, and certain antibiotics within 2 hours of dosing for maximum absorption

WARNING

• Keep out of reach of children—iron overdose is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six.
  
• Contraindications: Iron overload conditions (e.g., hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis), hemolytic anemia, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel conditions, and prior repeated transfusions.
  
• Do not chew or hold in mouth—can cause mouth ulcers, tooth staining, or esophageal injury, swallow whole with water.
  
• Pregnancy/lactation: Generally considered safe when clinically indicated.
